Love in Paris – Sonika & Mark’s Pre-wedding engagement shoot.

I was really excited when Sonika & Mark came across me at the wedding show. They were both so keen after seeing my work & having a wee chat with me, that they booked me on the spot. I was even more excited when we all decided to do their pre-wedding engagement shoot in my lovely wife’s hometown of Paris :-).

To be honest it was a mix of excitement & nerves that I was feeling, not only because shooting in Paris was new for me and I had a lot of expectations to meet, but also because I had decided to shoot my first ever shoot using a mirrorless camera. When I spoke to Sonika a before heading out, that I planned to approach her engagement shoot, with a street photography style using a very discreet camera so as not to draw too much attention to ourselves whilst we were out in the city, she happily agreed and put her full faith & trust in me.

I really love owning the Fuji X series camera system; I believe it compliments my Nikon SLR system well and allows me to use it in situations where the Nikons just wouldn’t be as practical to utilise. Put it this way I managed to carry my Fujifilm X-Pro2 with 5 lenses (18mm f2, 23mm f1.4, 35mm f2, 56mm f1.2 & 90mm f2) fitted snuggly into a small shoulder bag all day long with no hassle & little fatigue. Normally I would struggle carrying one SLR with just 3 lenses; I mean the weight difference is huge.

I would like to thank my wonderful Parisian wife for assisting with the lighting (we used a Lowel GL-1 as well as Cactus V6 triggers & speedlites). She really tolerated the long day, all the walking, the cold rainy weather and more so for tolerating me. It was a really fun shoot full of amazing opportunities, with a really fun, quirky & beautiful couple… Here are some of my favourite images from the weekend:
